DALI-2 version of Part 207 is published by IEC

UPDATED: April 25, 2018

IEC has published the DALI-2 version of Part 207 of IEC 62386, the international DALI standard. Part 207 describes requirements for LED drivers.

Edition 2.0 of “Part 207: Particular requirements for control gear - LED modules (device type 6)” was published on April 12, 2018, and cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2009.

Published Parts of IEC 62386 can be purchased by visiting the IEC website.

The second edition includes a number of significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition. Many optional features have been moved to separate Parts of the standard: these include dimming curve selection, load shedding, load referencing, and thermal gear and lamp protection.

IEC has also published three further Parts of the DALI-2 standard:

  • Part 216: Particular requirements for control gear - Load referencing (device type 15)
  • Part 222: Particular requirements for control gear - Thermal lamp protection (device type 21)
  • Part 333: Particular requirements for control devices - Manual configuration (feature type 33)

The status of different Parts can found here: >> DALI standard IEC 62386

While IEC publishes the DALI standard, DiiA’s role is to develop test-sequence software that enables companies to show compliance of their products with different Parts of the DALI-2 standard.

Last month, IEC published the DALI-2 versions of four other Parts of IEC 62386 (see News):

  • Part 217: Thermal gear protection (device type 16)
  • Part 218: Dimming curve selection (device type 17)
  • Part 224: Non-replaceable light source (device type 23)
  • Part 332: Input devices – Feedback
